Program 03 · Women's Self Defense
Self-defense for women, taught cooperatively.
A separate program with its own instructor and its own curriculum. Scenario-based, cooperative, and explained from zero. No prior experience, no sparring, no requirement to progress to the adult program.
Who this is for
Adult women who want a structured, respectful place to learn how their body moves under practical self-defense scenarios. No athletic background needed. No prior martial-arts experience needed. The pace is set by the student in front of the instructor.
What a class looks like
60 minutes. The instructor demonstrates a scenario — a wrist grab, a standing frame, a bottom-position defense — and the class walks through it in cooperative drills with a partner. There is no free sparring, no rolling, no pressure to perform. You learn one answer, you practice it, and you leave knowing it.
The instructor
Sensei Taka Watanabe leads this program. The curriculum is his own, drawn from BJJ fundamentals adapted to standing-and-ground self-defense frames. Separate register, separate program — not a lite version of adult BJJ.
If you want more
Students who want to continue into Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are welcome to add the adult program at any time — the self-defense program alone is complete on its own. The two aren't a funnel; they're separate choices.
